Vollertsen, Brown earn GPAC All-Conference nods

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Two members of the Morningside women's basketball team were recognized Wednesday when the Great Plains Athletic Conference released its all-conference selections.
Senior Lily Vollertsen earned GPAC First Team honors, while sophomore Clancy Brown was named Honorable Mention.
Vollertsen led the Mustangs in scoring during her final season, averaging 19.4 points per game. Her season high in points was 37 in the Dec. 10 upset over then-No. 8 Briar Cliff. The senior from Syracuse, Nebraska, also had 16 games with 20-plus points or more, and recorded 10 double-doubles.
Vollertsen also crossed the 1,000-point mark early in the season, and wound up with 1,526 points and 668 rebounds in 113 games played.
Brown, meanwhile, was the Mustangs' second-leading scorer this season at 9.5 ppg. She was a 37 percent shooter from the floor, and made 21 3-pointers. Brown was also the second most frequent visitor to the free throw line, making 57 of 76 attempts.
Brown led the Mustangs in steals with 53, and she was fourth in total rebounds with 113.
