Becerra-Diaz leads Mustangs in spring opener

JEKYLL Island, Ga. — The Morningside women's golf team on Tuesday opened its spring portion of the schedule with a ninth-place finish at the Coastal Georgia Women's Winter Invitational.

Ivanna Becerra-Diaz led the Mustangs with an 11th-place score of 152, and she carded 73 Tuesday on the Par 72 course. Diaz had one birdie Tuesday, which came on No. 12.
Lucy Brown was 34th with a 159. She also had a birdie on Tuesday at the 13th.
Kamryn Zuniga placed 37th at 160, and she had two birdies on the first five holes Monday. Macy Button placed 49th in her spring debut (163), and she shot 80 on Monday. Aidan Sander placed 56th (169), with her lower round happening Monday with an 82.
The Mustangs' next competition is March 16-17 in Oklahoma City at the Kyle Blaser Invitational.
