Fall phase wraps up in Mustang Round-Up
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Three Mustang swimmers punched their tickets to nationals this weekend at the Mustang Round-Up. The triangular saw Morningside swimmers doubling down their efforts to record benchmark times before the second half of the season kicks into high gear following Christmas break.

JR Albers attained an NAIA standard B cut in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.59 where he was first to touch the wall, and another in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.28, placing him second.
Rachel Roose recorded a B cut standard time in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.42, good for first.
Roose also took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.61. Joe Ciriaco recorded another great swim in the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 21.83, placing him in second.
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay also made an NAIA B cut time of 1:26.41, for a first-place score, nearly seven seconds ahead of second place Iowa Lakes Community College.
The men's team accumulated 395 points placing them first overall and the women's team placed second in team scores with 350 points.
Morningside's swimmers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 22 when the chase for national qualifier times resumes in a dual against Midland.
