Mustangs split with Lakers, SMSU

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Morningside women's swimming split a pair of duals Saturday at the Hindman-Hobbs Center agaianst Southwest Minnesota State and Iowa Lakes Community College.

Freshman Leonor Coelho made an immediate impact, finishing second in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.63) and 100 freestyle (55.81). Junior Alice Mahoney added a fourth-place showing in the 200 individual medley (2:28.86) and placed fourth again in the 500 freestyle (5:55.77).
Freshman Elena Santelli scored in multiple events, including a 2:12.12 mark in the 200 freestyle and a strong 1:08.09 finish in the 100 backstroke. Delaney Biesecker and Lily Jackson rounded out individual scoring with efforts in the 200 freestyle.
The Mustangs' 200 freestyle relay of Olivia Ramaeker, Jaden Ochsner, Biesecker, and Lily Schwickerath closed the meet with a 1:50.58 finish, placing fourth overall.
Morningside returns to action Nov. 9-10 for the Mustang Invitational, aiming to continue early-season progress and push closer to NAIA qualifying standards.
