ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Morningside University women's swim team turned in several standout performances at the Roger Ahlman Invite, finishing second with 442 points behind host Macalester. The Mustangs collected multiple top-three finishes, a relay runner-up, and several strong individual swims throughout the meet.
Morningside opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, as Elena Santelli, Alice Mahoney, Leonor Coelho, and Olivia Ramaeker posted a 4:19.37 finish. The Mustangs' top relay result came at the end of the meet, when Coelho, Mahoney, Santelli, and Ramaeker combined for 3:49.22 to take second in the 400 free relay.
Freshman Leonor Coelho led the Mustangs individually. She won the 50 freestyle in 25.18, the lone women's event victory for Morningside, and added a fifth-place finish in the 200 free (2:04.59). Coelho also anchored multiple relays and placed second on the opening leg of the 400 free relay.
Ramaeker contributed multiple top results of her own, taking fourth in the 100 free (57.24) and swimming key legs on both runner-up and scoring relays. Santelli added steady points with top-15 finishes across the 100 back, 200 back, and both freestyle relays.
Mahoney provided one of the Mustangs' strongest mid-distance efforts, finishing sixth in the 200 free (2:07.74), 11th in the 200 IM (2:26.48), and leading off the 400 free relay with a 57.00 split.
Freshman Lily Jackson produced important distance points, highlighted by a fifth place finish in the 1650 (20:51.90) and seventh in the 500 free (5:50.24). Delaney Biesecker, Jaden Ochsner, and Lily Schwickerath added depth across the sprint and stroke events, helping Morningside build its margin over third-place Hamline.
The Mustangs return to the pool in 2026, with a pair of duals in the Hindman-Hobbs Center to end the regular season before the Mustangs head to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in February.
