Eight Mustangs receive all-GPAC honors
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Ten members of the Morningside women’s tennis program were honored with all-conference honors Tuesday, including Alex Struck being named the GPAC Coach of the Year.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Eight members of the Morningside women's tennis program were honored with all-conference honors Tuesday, including Alex Struck being named the GPAC Coach of the Year.
At No. 1 singles, Line Jensen (Fr., Humlebaek, Denmark) went 6-1 in regular season action against the GPAC, and finished 25-3 this season. Jil Hellerforth (Sr., Luedensheid, Germany) went 7-0 against GPAC foes at No. 2 singles and was 15-6 overall. Delfina Stuzynska (Sr., Brussels, Belgium) is all-conference at No. 3 singles, going 7-0 against the GPAC in the regular season and finishing the year at 14-6 overall.
Annika Meisel (Fr., Erfurt, Germany) went 7-0 against the GPAC to receive all-conference honors at No. 4 singles and went 21-3 overall this season. At No. 5 singles, Emily Clotfelter (Sr., Fairfield, Mont.) went 5-2 in conference play and finished the season with a 16-7 record. In No. 6 singles, Lidia Suarez went 7-0 in conference play and was 16-1 this season.
Morningside's No. 1 doubles team of Jensen and Stuzynska went 6-1 against the GPAC and finished with a 15-4 record. Hellerforth and Meisel were all-conference at No. 2 doubles, going 6-1 in GPAC play and 13-6 overall. The No. 3 team of Clotfelter and Macy McDonald (So., Phillips, Neb.) also was 6-1 in conference play and 11-4 overall.
Struck led the Mustangs to a regular season and conference tournament championship this season. The Mustangs are 18-3 under Struck's guidance, and went 7-0 in conference play during the regular season.
Morningside is in action at the NAIA Tournament May 14 against Westcliff (Calif.) at 2 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama.
