Mustang Women Claim 6-1 GPAC Win at Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The Mustangs took on Orange City this afternoon in women's tennis action, as Morningside picked up a 6-1 win over Northwestern in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.

Lara Heinrich and Helene Kreibich led Morningside's crusade, hitting the book first with a 6-0 win at no. 2 doubles. Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall followed with a 6-2 win to secure the doubles point, and Stefany Simplicio and Bianca Seminario Pinheiro Costa completed a doubles sweep with a 6-2 win.

Marshall was first to add to Morningside's lead, winning the no. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0. Kreibich was next, with a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 4, and Jensen won 6-1, 6-1 in the no. 1 position to secure the team's win. 

Heinrich added a 6-2, 6-3 win at no. 2 singles and Simplicio won 6-0, 6-2 to score the Mustangs' final point.

Morningside's next match is Thursday, when both the men's and women's teams travel to Hastings to hit the courts at 1 p.m.
