Morningside Women Post Solid Early Marks at USD Alumni Meet, Mount Marty Invite

Freshman Estefana Beisswenger led the way in the women's 3,000 meters, winning the event in 10:45.34. Senior London Rogge followed closely behind with a second-place finish in 11:10.54, while sophomore Carmen Buschkamp placed third in 11:55.48, also setting a personal record.
In the women's mile, senior Taylor Cole posted a time of 6:19.92, making her debut on the oval for Morningside.
Sophomore Kylin Smith turned in a personal-best performance in the women's 400 meters, finishing in 1:00.28, while also competing in the 200 meters earlier in the meet.
In the throws, sophomore Shelby Mills recorded a season-best mark of 13.39 meters in the women's weight throw. Sophomore Aleena Edwards added a personal-best effort of 11.75 meters, while Maddy Stanek and Kambrie Fulton contributed marks of 11.40 meters and 10.24 meters, respectively.
Stanek and Fulton also competed in the shot put, finishing with throws of 9.74 meters and 9.11 meters as Morningside rounded out the meet across multiple event areas.
Morningside also took the top spot in the 4,000 meter distance medley relay at the Mount Marty Invite, as Madison Sporrer, Smith, Morgan Sachs, and Courtney Sporrer ran a time of 12:34.61. In the 4x800 meter relay, Sachs, Jolee Mesz, Madison Sporrer, and Courtney Sporrer took second in 9:35.33.
The Mustangs will continue their indoor schedule next week, sending some events to the Concordia Polar Dog Invite on Friday and others to the Dennis Young Alumni Classic at Buena Vista on Saturday.
