Mustangs set aside BCU in crosstown clash

The Mustangs came out strong, picking up wins in the opening sets and finishing the match off in set four. The teams wrapped the match with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 21-25, and 25-23.

The Mustangs came out strong, picking up wins in the opening sets and finishing the match off in set four. The teams wrapped the match with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 21-25, and 25-23.
Morningside's strong performance, highlighted by set two in which the team recorded just three attacking errors, saw the team hit .156 overall and record 51 kills, tallying 45 assists, and five service aces. Defensively the Mustangs recorded 71 digs and 6.5 blocks.
Payten Lode led Morningside's attack, with 17 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. Sydney Marlow followed with 12 kills and Claire Wilson had 11 terminations. Gillian DePauw had 42 assists while also recording four kills.
Marlow led the team digs column, with 16 in the match. Aureana Bernales followed with 13, Wilson with 11, and DePauw with 10.
Wilson led at the net with five block assists. Nienke van Drunen knocked down four, and Kylah Brewer had two.
The Mustangs head to no. 9 Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday before concluding the regular season on Tuesday, welcoming Dordt University to Allee Gym.
