Morningside voted fourth in GPAC preseason poll
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside University women’s volleyball team on Wednesday was voted fourth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference coaches’ poll.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside University women's volleyball team on Wednesday was voted fourth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference coaches' poll.
Morningside received 92 points, just three behind Midland for the No. 3 spot. The Mustangs finished 22-11 in 2024, and went 10-6 in GPAC play.
The Mustangs qualified for the NAIA national tournament last season, marking the 10th time they had done so.
Not only did the Mustangs find out their conference preseason ranking on Wednesday, but they also received votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll. The Mustangs received 44 votes, and that puts them three spots outside of No. 25.
The Mustangs open 2025 at home, facing RV Valley City State at the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. They'll also compete that weekend in the Siouxland Sports Academy Tournament hosted in North Sioux City.
Concordia was voted as the preseason GPAC favorite with 117 points.
