Shearer earns Honorable Mention status to finish freshman year

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Morningside women's wrestling freshman Callee Shearer was named Tuesday on the Great Plains Athletic Conference honorable mention list.

Shearer wrestled at the 124-pound division, and on Saturday, the freshman from Arlington, Nebraska, placed third in that weight class.

Shearer's first career win as a Mustang came on Nov. 8 at the Waldorf Open with a pin in the first period. On Dec. 11, she earned her first dual victory against the Warriors, which came on the Mustangs' lone home dual of the season.

She began the 2026 part of the season as a semifinalist at the York Open, then earned two wins at the Upper Iowa triangular.
