Mustangs finish 12th in national NAIA field
ASHLAND, NEB. – The Mustangs finished just below the halfway point of a highly competitive field in the inaugural Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic, hosted by College of Saint Mary and Doane University. Morningside placed no. 12 out of 23 teams, headlined by Courtney Sporrer, who placed finished in the 27th spot.

Morningside placed no. 12 out of 23 teams, headlined by Courtney Sporrer, who placed finished in the 27th spot.
Sporrer's time of 22:41.3 was less than two minutes behind the meet winner, from College of Idaho.
Next for Morningside was Taylor Sporrer, who placed 41st, completing the course in 23:06.3. Jolee Mesz came third for the Mustangs, placing at the century mark with a time of at 24:37.8, Monica Olson placed 102nd at 24:38.4, and Michelle Sanchez rounded out Morningside's first five in 25:43.6.
The Mustangs are back on the course on Saturday, Nov. 4, when the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship meet returns to Adams Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, S.D., hosted by Briar Cliff.
