Rorabacher leads Mustangs in opener

ATCHISON, KS. – Benedictine University posted eight goals in the first period and moved on to a 26-2 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Morningside University Sunday, Feb. 27.
The Ravens, compiling three of those scores less than five minutes in of the 2022 KCAC opener for both sides, peppered 41 total shots on Mustangs' freshman netminder Carter Genzen (West Des Moines, Iowa). Genzen managed to deflect 15 for saves.
Head coach Jack O'Brien's Mustangs broke through on the Legacy Field scoreboard once in the second and third periods. Junior midfielder/attacker Brendan Rorabacher (Eagle, Idaho) tallied one of the successful strikes and assisted on the second for freshman attacker/midfielder Sean-Michael Corbin (Fort Myers, Fla.). Junior defender Jacob Johnson (Nowata, Okla.) and Rorabacher also led the team in ground balls (Johnson – three) and shots (Rorabacher – five).
The Mustangs raise the curtain on their home season Friday, March 4. Midland University visits Tom Rosen Field for a 3:30 p.m. face-off in league play.
