FREMONT, Neb. — An early surge by Midland proved too much for Morningside in a 2-1 men's soccer loss Saturday night.
The Mustangs scored following two Midland goals early in the match. Tobias Allerstorfer finished in the ninth minute, assisted by Gustavo Dos Santos, to cut the deficit in half. Despite consistent pressure — Morningside outshot Midland 18-12 and earned nine corner kicks — the equalizer never came.
Jordan Bickel, Tassilo Koerner and Lucas De Souza each had multiple chances on frame, but Midland keeper Tomas Reyes totaled 10 saves. Mustang goalkeeper Tim Teschner stopped three shots.
Morningside's next match is Homecoming Saturday with a a 5:30 p.m. match against Concordia.
