Morningside would break through after seven minutes of the overtime period, advancing to Friday's GPAC semifinal with a 3-2 final score.
It was Mario Osas Damiani that pushed Morningside over the top, scoring the golden goal on an assist from Bennet Buchwald. Buchwald netted Morningside's first goal after the halftime intermission, as Tassilo Koerner redirected a cross from Jordan Bickel to put the Mustangs on the board.
Gustavo Dos Santos was responsible for Morningside's equalizer in the final minute of regulation, as Bickel and Damiani each assisted on the goal.
Tim Teschner got the start in goal, recording four saves against a Dakota Wesleyan team that was on the attack from the first whistle. Timon Koerber relieved his counterpart at halftime, collecting the win as the Mustangs mounted the comeback while adding a save to the totals.
Morningside advances to Friday's semifinal match, awaiting the winner of the Mount Marty-Northwestern contest to determine game time, location, and opponent.
