Harmon, Schill lead Mustangs to season-opening victory

MARSHALL, Minn. — The Morningside University women's soccer team opened the season Wednesday with a 4-0 victory over NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State.
Keyera Harmon scored the first two goals for the Mustangs. Her first scoring play came at the 6-minute, 20-second mark, and the goal came unassisted. Harmon — who also led the Mustangs in scoring in 2024 — scored unassisted in the 61st minute, too.
Tove Schill scored the other two goals during the second half. Her first collegiate goal came in the 70th minute, assisted by Lilou Dominguez. Her second goal, which was unassisted, happened at the 74:23 mark.
The Mustangs (1-0-0) took 14 shots, and nine of them were on goal. Harmon took four shots, while Melissa Tsatiris had three. They also had two corner shots.
Kyla Syverson played 70 minutes in net, and she saved four shots. Moriah Dixson saved one shot in the remaining 20 minutes.
Morningside's next match is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Grand View in Des Moines.
