Women's Soccer's Season Concludes in 1-1 Finale in NAIA National Championships
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – For the second time in as many games, Morningside women’s soccer’s took its opponent beyond a second overtime period and to penalty kicks to determine a contest winner, this time in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women’s Soccer National Championship First Round against Southern Oregon’s Ravens, who were receiving votes in the season’s final coaches’ poll. The Mustangs fell in the shootout by a differential of 4-3, concluding their season at the national championship event.

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – For the second time in as many games, Morningside women's soccer's took its opponent beyond a second overtime period and to penalty kicks to determine a contest winner, this time in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women's Soccer National Championship First Round against Southern Oregon's Ravens, who were receiving votes in the season's final coaches' poll. The Mustangs fell in the shootout by a differential of 4-3, concluding their season at the national championship event.
It was Morningside that got on the board first on a misty November night, as Keyera Harmon played a ball from Ida Carlsson to take the advantage in the 54th minute of the contest. Harmon ended the night with a team-high six shots, four of which were on goal.
The Mustangs offensive attack registered 15 shots in the contest, seven of which were on goal. Southern Oregon had a similar 16 shots, 10 of which were on goal, finally getting a ball past Moriah Dixson with less than eight minutes to play. Dixson had nine saves in 110 minutes in goal.
On the season, the Great Plains Athletic Conference Champion Mustangs scored 47 goals while accumulating an 11-1-6 record. They averaged 2.6 goals per game, while giving up .78 goals per game.
