Morningside adds pair of wins in home triangular

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Mornignside's women made the most of the chance to host a tennis triangular with Baker and Northwestern this weekend, coming away with a pair of victories as they topped Baker 7-0 and Northwestern 6-1.

Anna Sievert and Mia Wenzel got Morningside started in the morning, with a win via forfeit in doubles. Stefany Simplicio and Bianca Seminario Pinheiro Costa won their match over the Wildcats, 6-3, to take the doubles point.

Jennifer Huber and Grace Riha added a pair of points as singles play began, each collecting a win via forfeit. Lara Heinrich locked down the team win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the no. 1 position.

Sophia Guntren added a 6-3, 6-4 win; Anna Sievert followed 6-2, 6-0; and Mia Wenzel won 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 10-5 to complete the shutout.

Kailee Bailey and Sophia Guntren were first to the book for Morningside in the nightcap with Northwestern, winning 6-2. Jil Exlemans and Ellie Peterson followed with a 6-3 win, and Heinrich and Helene Kreibich completed the doubles sweep 6-2.

Heinrich kept the momentum in Morningside's favor, winning a quick 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles play. Kreibich followed her doubles partner 6-4, 6-4; and Bailey clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win. 

Seminario Pinheiro Costa won 6-0, 6-3 to continue to tilt the match in Morningside's favor and Sievert was the last Mustang to score, winning 6-0, 6-2.

While the team wraps things up for 2025, Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall head to the ITA Cup tournament in Mount Berry, Ga. next week.
