A Mustang Sweep Opens Spring Break for Women's Tennis
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Morningside Tennis added another 7-0 sweep to its schedule, as the women shutout Tennessee Southern on the campus of Bethel, Tenn.
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Morningside Tennis added another 7-0 sweep to its schedule, as the women shutout Tennessee Southern on the campus of Bethel, Tenn.
The Mustangs took the doubles point with ease, as Kailee Bailey and Stefany Simplicio picked up a 6-0 win at no. 3. Lara Heinrich and Helene Kreibich matched Bailey and Simplicio with a 6-0 win at no. 2 to clinch the doubles point, and Line Jensen and Brooke Marshall won the no. 1 match, 6-3.
Jensen worked quickly as the match moved to singles play, winning 6-2, 6-1 at no. 1. Kreibich followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at no. 4, and Marshall won 6-2, 7-5 at no. 3 to clinch the match.
Jil Exelmans was the next Mustang in the book, winning the no. 5 match 6-3, 6-2, Simplicio won 6-4, 6-2 at no. 6, and Heinrich completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Morningside returns to the courts tomorrow, playing Huntington, and Wednesday when it plays Bethel.
