ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Morningside again showed why the Great Plains Athletic Conference can be considered one of the top conferences in NAIA volleyball, visiting nationally ranked Northwestern College. The Mustangs, on the road, squared off with the no. 14 Red Raiders, taking the opening set before falling 3-1, 25-21, 12-25, 14-25, and 16-25.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside Volleyball continued Saturday’s Senior Day activities, honoring the program’s pair of seniors, Sabrina Creason and Lindi Pojar in a pregame ceremony. Following the ceremony, the Mustangs butted heads with the Broncos from Hastings College, eventually walking away with a five-set win, 21-25, 25-19, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-9.
OMAHA, NEB. – As the Mustangs continue to make their way through the second half of their GPAC schedule, they are finally getting a look at some of the opponents in the southern group of teams in the league. Today’s opponent, the Flames of College of Saint Mary, lived up to their no. 11 ranking, defeating the Mustangs 3-0, 25-13, 25-10, and 25-18.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – It was another day, another opponent that has been ranked in the NAIA’s top 25 this season, as the Mustangs continued play as part of their very strong Great Plains Athletic Conference schedule. The Mustangs fell to the Bulldogs of Concordia, who are now listed as receiving votes, 3-0, with set scores of 25-24, 25-22, and 25-19.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside’s Mustangs returned to Allee Gym for a game for the first time in almost two weeks tonight, facing the sixth-ranked Warriors from Midland University. The hometown Mustangs gave Midland a fight, but fell in straight sets, 25-20, 25-13, and 25-9.
CRETE, NEB. – The Mustangs continued their season on the road today, visiting Doane University and its Tigers. Doane handled the Mustangs’ upset bid, defeating Morningside in straight sets, 25-22, 25-12, and 25-22.
SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – Morningside headed to Sioux County with hopes of upsetting another ranked opponent appearing on its conference schedule. Dordt, who had a four game losing streak in the weeks prior, was hoping to get back in the “W” column against a Morningside team that has shown that it has a lot of talent and can play with anyone, but has struggled to convert in a league with seven teams currently ranked by the NAIA. The Defenders got the best of the Mustangs on this occasion, taking the victory 3-1, with scores 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, and 25-17.

The North Dakota twin bill opened yesterday evening when the University of Jamestown Jimmies, continuing to play the role of Goliath, bested the Mustangs 3-0.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Taking the floor for one of a handful of Friday night matches, Morningside’s women’s volleyball team welcomed Dakota State to Allee Gym, setting the stage for one of the season’s most memorable matches so far. The Trojans ended up victorious in the meeting, setting the Mustangs back in five sets, 3-2.

However, in a league with members scattered across the NAIA’s top 25 list, anything can happen on any given night. While coming up short of an upset, Morningside did give the no. 2 Jimmies a fight, falling 3-0, with sets of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-17.

Despite playing in front of a loud home crowd, Morningside came away with a win in the crosstown showdown, 3-2, with scores of 27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 24-26, and 15-8.
BELLEVUE, NEB. – Day two of the GoSarpy.com Labor day Classic didn’t start how Morningside would’ve liked, falling to Mayville State, 3-2, with scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-28, 19-25, and 15-8. The Mustangs fell to the .500 mark for the first time this season, following a loss to McPherson 3-1, with sets of 24-26, 25-17, 25-20, and 25-23.
BELLEVUE, NEB. – It was a recent opponent in Midamerica Nazarene that upset the Mustangs bid for a sweep of day one of the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic, taking Morningside to a competitive five sets before wrapping a day that saw the Mustangs start play at 9 a.m. Morningside’s loss to MNU, 3-2 with scores of 11-25, 25-21, 19-25, 28-26, and 15-9, followed the morning’s 3-1 win over Peru State, 25-13, 21-25, 25-18, and 25-15.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside picked up its GPAC slate today, welcoming no. 8 Northwestern College to Allee Gym. The Mustangs gave the top ten-ranked Red Raiders, picked to finish fifth in the league, a fight, despite falling in straight sets, 25-20, 25-23, and 25-10.
MARSHALL, MO. – The heart of Missouri was the destination for Morningside when the Mustangs hit the road this weekend, headed to the Missouri Valley College for the Viking Invitational. Morningside fell in its first match, 3-1, with scores of 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-10, but rebounded in the day’s second match, 25-12, 25-7, and 25-17.
MARSHALL, MO – It was game day number two in Missouri for Morningside, and Stephens College and Midamerica Nazarene University were all that stood between the Mustangs and their return trip to Sioux City. That ride home came sooner than later, with Morningside taking both matches in straight sets, defeating Stephens 25-19, 25-17, and 26-24, and MNU 28-26,25-15, and 25-20.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – It was the smell of fresh paint and a new shine to the floor that greeted fans and athletes as Allee Gymnasium began to buzz ahead of the Morningside home opener against Dordt University. Before the night was over, that buzz would reach a roar, as the Mustangs and Defenders locked in battle, only for the visitors to leave with a straight sets win, 25-17, 25-16, and 25-22.
